This vintage wine is a blend of old-vine, low-yield grapes. Made from Garnacha (50%) and Cariñena (50%) varietals from Celler Malondro, located at the foot of Montsant, surrounding the ancient villa of Siurana, a marvellous landscape where the grape ripens slowly to give our wine its unique personality.

The Garnacha grape harvest began on 15 October in the low-altitude regions (500-600 m), while the higher Garnacha (600-800 m) and Cariñena varietal (between 450-600 m) were harvested after 23 October. Ripening this year was ideal due to moderate summer temperatures and just the right amount of rainfall.

The grapes were fermented for 27 days at 27ºC, in constant contact with the skins, and pumping over was done slowly with ventilation in order to achieve full expression.

The wine was then transferred to 50% new oak casts (70% French oak and 30% American) with different toast intensities for malolactic fermentation. The wine fermented here for one year, and was then transferred to tanks for further ageing.

It was bottled in August 2014, and aged in the bottle for at least 6 months before making it available to the public. This wine will improve in the bottle over the next 5-7 years.

Highly intense and complex aroma which transmits an elegance that distinguishes the personality of Celler Malondro wines. We will find well-blended fruity and woody notes which respect the personality of the wine. This wine always presents the minerality that is characteristic of our rocky soil, and if we wait a few minutes and let the wine breathe, we will notice hints of black fruits in the foreground, followed by red fruits. You will find that the wine improves with each minute in the glass.

Pleasant on the palate, full-bodied, well-structured and buttery, with a very long finish. The most prominent characteristic of this wine is its crispness, which is a faithful embodiment of the micro climate of our town. All of these characteristics give our wine a special and unique elegance.

Pairs well with cured cheeses and charcoal-grilled dishes for maximum enjoyment in good company.
